I’m Jackie Compton, the owner and operator of Balanced Equation.

I’ve worked at Balanced Equation for four years, and I’ve spent 23 years in the industry. Every once in awhile, someone will ask me why I’m in accounting. They wonder if it gets boring scrutinizing spreadsheets or adding up columns of numbers all day. While this job isn’t for everyone, there’s a major reason that I do what I do.

I get to be a part of something larger than myself. Small business owners are just like me, they want to survive and thrive in their chosen field. Whether we’re helping a startup develop a business plan, or working with an established company on tax preparedness, my team gets to
be an extension of the business and give them a little extra push towards success.

We’re the preferred choice for financial services in the region, and there’s a few reasons why. While many firms will meet clients on an annual basis, the norm with us to meet monthly, or even quarterly, to stay on top of every facet. We’ll even occasionally make site visits in order to make sure everything is in good order. As a result, we develop strong relationships with our clients.

We also go out of our way to make things easy. Many of our clients appreciate the fact that we put automated and paperless processes in place, which makes their processes far simpler. More importantly, we make sure to go over everything in a way that makes sense. Instead of confusing clients with impenetrable financial jargon, we’ll make sure everything is easy to understand and clear.

By doing all that, by helping a small business run effectively and thrive, we get to be a part of the American dream. We get to see what happens when a business owner’s hard work and persistence pays off. We get to be there when they realize their dream, when they turned it into a reality. Believe me, there aren’t many feelings better than that.

So, to all of our past and present clients, thank you for letting us be a part of your story. To all of our clients yet-to-be, we can’t wait to work with you.
