Jackie Compton, CPA, CGMA formed Compton Accounting LLC in 2012 with the intention of creating an organization where client expectations are exceeded and work-life harmonization is realized for both Jackie and her team. In 2014, Jackie noticed that many of her clients viewed the relationship with their accountant as purely income tax focused. She believes that the relationship with the accountant needs to be much more than about tax preparation and planning; taxes are just one part of a balanced financial business equation. Out of that belief was born the new name, Balanced Equation.
Being a technology nerd, Jackie’s vision was to create opportunity for small business clients to interact with their accountant in a way that simplified accounting related processes and freed up owners to focus on what they do best. She also wanted to bring big company expertise to her small business clients, which is something she found was lacking in the small business community due to cost. This knowledge allows Balanced Equation clients to scale without needing to change accountants.
Jackie has over 24 years of experience in accounting. Her career started in Silicon Valley working for large, high-tech startup companies as well as established software and technology companies. She also worked for Arthur Andersen LLP, a then big-five accounting firm. Most recently, but prior to starting Balanced Equation, Jackie worked for RLR, LLP, a local firm in Fort Collins, Colorado. She is a graduate of San Jose State University and is both a Colorado Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and a Chartered Global Management Accountant. Outside of work, Jackie loves to spend time watching her husband build and make things, like a pergola for the backyard or home-brewed beer. She also stays busy keeping her teenage daughter Jade out of trouble!
